چکیده

A 25-year-old female presented with hemoptysis one year after ASD closure. Chest radiograph revealed large mediast-inal opacity (Fig. 1b) not present immediately after the previous surgery (Fig. 1a). Multislice CT (Fig. 2) revealed two ascending aortic pseudoaneurysms. Resection and homograft patch reconstruction of ascending aorta was successfully performed. Fig. 1. (a) Chest radiograph immediately after the ASD closure shows no mediastinal shadow. (b) Chest radiograph one year after the first surgery showing a large mediastinal shadow merging with the aortic silhouette. Fig. 2. (a) Axial CT image showing pseudoaneurysm with thrombosis. (b) Reconstructed CT image showing the pseudoaneurysms (arrows), the larger one from aortic cannulation site and the smaller one from the cardioplegia needle insertion site.

Surgical Management of Ascending Aortic Aneurysm and Its Complications

Ascending aortic aneurysms involving the proximal aortic arch, arising anywhere from the aortic valve to the innominate artery, represent various problems in which open surgery is generally required. Surgical options include excision of the aortic pathology or wrapping the aneurysm shell with an aortic Dacron graft. Intervention using the latter method can lead to extravasation of blood along t...

Endovascular repair of ascending aortic pseudoaneurysm.

We describe a complex case of ascending aortic pseudoaneurysm after open repair of ascending aortic aneurysm and aortic valve replacement. Although treatment was complicated due to intra-operative graft migration, the patient was successfully treated with endovascular technique.

Surgical Repair of a Pseudoaneurysm of the Ascending Aorta after Previous Aortic Valve Replacement and Aneurysmorrhaphy

We report the case of a patient with a pseudoaneurysm of the ascending aorta. He was referred to our hospital because of chest pain and dyspnea. A preoperative diagnostic evaluation revealed a large pseudoaneurysm of the ascending aorta close to the proximal anastomotic site of the graft. During surgery, the pseudoaneurysm originated from an intimal defect in the aortic wall on the right side o...

Novel Treatment Approach to Ascending Aorta Pseudoaneurysms: A Case Report

The pseudoaneurysm of the aorta is rarely due to trauma and infection but usually is a late complication of previous surgical procedures like coronary artery bypass graft surgery. We describe a 65-year-old woman with the pseudoaneurysm of the ascending aorta due to coronary artery bypass graft surgery. It was revealed in coronary artery angiography after nonspecific symptoms. It was confirmed b...

Complications of cannulation of the ascending aorta for open heart surgery.

In a series of 420 ascending aortic cannulations for cardiopulmonary bypass, major complications occurred in three patients. Aortic dissection occurred in one patient believed to be due to aortic cross-clamping. Avoidance of this manceuvre is suggested when the aorta is grossly atheromatous. Two patients developing false aneurysms due to mediastinal infection are described. Prevention of medias...
